Development Fund details for 2008-9
Application form and details of criteria
Gerry Nevill
What is the site development fund?
A fund of £5,000 a year (from April to March) is set aside by the council to spend on projects which:
- Are for the benefit of the whole site
- Improve the visual impact of the site for allotment holders and non-allotment holders
- Improve the facilities for all plot holders on the site
How does it work?
A bid for a project is submitted by the site representative (using the form as shown in the website) to the Brighton and Hove Allotment Federation officers. The Officers then decide on the bids to go forward to Brighton and Hove Council for action.Once the bid is agreed by the Allotment Federation and Brighton and Hove Council the work is arranged and funds are paid out by the council.
Are there any restrictions on what I can apply for?
As long as the project meets the criteria above then it will be considered although there will have to be a limit to the money that will be spent on one specific project.
Smaller value projects are preferred as this will enable the fund to be spread across different sites.
The maintenance of hedges, gates, fences and other boundary markers are the responsibility of the council and not intended to be funded through this process.
How does this affect me?
