RAGS (Roedale Allotments and Gardens Society) next committee meeting Monday 13h September (and the SECOND Monday of every month) at 7.30pm in Laburnam Grove Common Room, Burstead Close, Hollingdean, BN1 7HX.  View on a map .   

Tenantry Down Allotment Association  Pub Meeting -  Monday 6th September (and the FIRST monday of every month) At the Pub With No Name, 58 Southover St. All allotment holders and everyone else are invited. Starts 8pm. Locate pub in maps.

Eco Open Houses -  9-12 September 2010, and  30-31 October 2010 - Visit eco houses in Brighton and Hove Details: www.ecoopenhouses.org 

Brighton & Hove Food Festival  - 1st September to 7th October. A whole month of fantastic food and wine themed events, with celebrity chefs, authors signing books, lots to eat and lots to learn - check out their   web page  .

Hanover Local Food Festival - Sunday, 12 September 2010,  at the Hanover Community Centre, Southover Street 3pm to 7pm - including allotments & gardens produce show, plus a free showing of the film FOOD Inc. An afternoon celebrating and enjoying local food and thinking about how we buy and grow our food has wider implications. Come and enjoy delicious cakes, savouries and delicacies. Find out how to get involved in growing your own food; helping to organise a community composting scheme, ideas for a community orchard and where to buy locally produced food. If you have local food to sell, give away or swap, or if you would like to get involved in organising or taking part as an individual or community group, please phone Jackie 01273 240044, or email  Sarah 

Harvest Local Food Week -  from 20th - 26th September,  as part of the Brighton and Hove Food festival, Harvest will be celebrating all things local and seasonal.  Find out more. See attached image for poster about one of the events - the Harvest Local Food picnic will be held next to the Harvest veg garden in Preston Park on Saturday 25 September 11am to 4pm. Come along and swap excess veg, watch cookery demos, try local produce or take part in fun activities about food. Sponsored by Infinity Foods.   

2010 BRIGHTON GARDEN CENTRE EVENTS (PREVIOUSLY WYEVALE)

September - WORLD'S BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING - Friday 24th September - Please join us for a FREE cup of tea or coffee on Friday 24th September between 9am and 12pm.  Help us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support by making a small donation and taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

October - HARVEST FESTIVAL - Saturday 2nd October and Sunday 3rd October - Come and join us to celebrate Harvest Festival and the joys of Grow Your Own; there will be seasonal fun for everyone of every age.

October - FEED THE BIRDS DAY - Monday 18th October until Sunday 31st October -  Join us as we help raise awareness of the RSPB's Feed the Birds Day. Find out how to attract wild birds into your garden and pick up tips on how to feed and look afte our feathered friends

Mushroom Cultivation - 7- 8 May 2011 - The course will cover growing various highly nutritious mushrooms such as shitake, oysters, morels (believed to be one of the most flavoursome) and shaggy ink caps. Various mediums in which to grow them will be covered with practical hands on activities.
