County Borough of Brighton - Allotments and Smallholdings Handbook

The following pages from the above handbook were scanned by Simon Tobitt and used with permission of Kevin Bacon at the History Centre, Brighton and Hove Museum. They were first published in June, 1941. They are part of a bigger handbook which was used to enclose Government-issued "Dig for Victory" pamphlets. The first page suggests that these handbooks were issued to all the "Public of Brighton" by the Brighton County Borough Council - see the message from Councillor Clout on page 3. At this time, it seems the main bases at the forefront of this campaign were the Parks Department, Moulsecoomb Place and the Allotments Office on The Level.
