Stanmer Park Event
By John Eyles
'A Workshop of Discovery!'
Nature as a facilitator of personal and public health
Tuesday 12 February 2008
between 09.30 and 16.30
At: Care Co-ops Community Farm, Stanmer Park, Lewes Road,
Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 9SE
This workshop is aimed at all those who wish to facilitate the relationship between people and the environment for the purpose of improving our health and ecosystems. The use of specific therapeutic and educational methods has the added value of developing more than just physical and psychological well being.
Many other important outcomes are often overlooked. The holistic view of ecotherapeutic approaches leads to social, cultural and therapeutic sustainability as well as environmental sustainability. This is brought about by people who start off on a personal pathway to recovery and go on to discover a much broader meaning to their journey.
Ambra Burls, (an experienced tutor, researcher and ecotherapist) will explore how healing from experiential learning has a direct link with the development of personal and social enterprise. This in turn leads people to become self-involved in 'green space stewardship' and educational actions which meet the health needs of their communities and the public at large.
Undertaking activities, in stimulating surroundings, provides individuals with a chance to improve their lives and increase their opportunity for social interaction. Take a look around the Community Farm, hear about this innovative community and share your knowledge and skills with others.
Do you work or have an interest in health, social care or the environment? - If so, this is a workshop for you.
