Hi - I've had this plot for a couple of years now, and the friend with whom I was cultivating it has largely stopped coming down. It's a big plot, and I have arthritis which sometimes prevents me from digging.

As the council have closed the lists for new allotments, would anyone be interested in sharing with me? You'd need to be reasonably fit as the soil is fairly heavy. I'd be happy to take on a novice who could share the work in return for my teaching them about organic gardening.

At the moment I have cabbages and onions, beans, potatoes, chard and courgettes ready for harvesting, sweet corn, tomatoes and aubergine that should be starting to crop in a couple of weeks, sprouts, leeks and more cabbages for use in the winter, and broccoli and cauliflower seedlings waiting to go in.

There is also a cherry tree, and a pear and a gage, some strawberries and raspberries and a clump of rhubarb. I've just picked the last of the cherries and they were very good, but you'll have to wait till next year to taste them.
