Whitehawk Community Food Project

  • Founded in 1996, the Whitehawk Community Food Project is a well-known community allotment situated on a 1-acre site on Whitehawk Hill, East Brighton.
  • The Project’s core focus is on growing wholesome high-quality food all year round, utilising organic, permaculture and biodynamic principles & techniques.
  • Through regular drop-in volunteer days, workshops, courses and visits we provide opportunities for people to learn practical subsistence food-growing & land skills.
  • We aim to be a valuable demonstration site, showing what its possible to grow in our local climate & soils. By doing so, we provide a bio-diverse healing space for therapeutic horticulture and re-connecting people with nature.
  • Tailored sessions are provided to schools, colleges, community groups & companies. In October 2012 we were awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating from OFSTED, for a weekly gardening session that we deliver for autistic young adults attending a local college.
  • Open to volunteers: every Thursday & Sunday throughout the year:

Nov-Apr – 12noon ‘til dusk;

May-Oct – 2pm ‘til dusk.
